Il Casale

Casa Nova means “new house” but that’s a relative term around here. In the course of the restoration in 2014 we uncovered a centuries old cobble stone floor on the ground floor, originally the cattle stalls. We used these beautifully worn stones for an outside terrace and turned the wood from the mangers into shelves and benches. The ground floor has now been transformed into living space, a beautiful internal staircase added, and the whole has been finished to a very high standard, providing spacious and luxurious accommodation for groups of up to 16 (plus infants). For the layout of Il Casale see here. Below you can see key features at a glance and a photo gallery.

Key features

The interior design of Il Casale combines the best of traditional local materials, such as chestnut, marble, terracotta and ceramics, with the elegance of modern design, for a result that is at once elegant and unfussy. We have preserved traditional architectural elements, whilst introducing energy saving technology to ensure the house is environmentally sound. The layout of Il Casale is perfect for large groups of people who want to be able to choose when to be together and when to be independent of one another. The house is airy, spacious, and light, with exceptional views towards the landmark mountain, Monte Acuto, and across the Niccone valley. The mature garden offers plenty of shade:

  • Washing machine and drier
  • Two shaded verandas with panoramic views
  • Outdoor dining under vine pergola or pergola by poolside
  • Wood fired pizza oven and barbecue
  • Belvedere overlooking the pool
  • Comfy outdoor seating on a garden terrace perfect for a sundowner or star-gazing
  • Fenced and heated infinity pool (15m x 5m), salt filtration, deep end
  • Extensive private lawns and gardens around the house and pool
  • Access to the shared facilities of the wider Casa Nova estate: vegetable plot, orchards, free-range chickens, space to ramble at leisure

“I will give you a description of the temperature of the climate, the situation of the country, and the beauty of my villa, which, I am persuaded, you will hear with as much pleasure as I shall take in giving it.”  Pliny the Younger
